Heart Disease Prevention
- We are currently seeking participants who have had a heart attack, or angina, or stroke, or are at risk for major adverse cardiovascular events. This is a study of an investigational medication to help to reduce the risk of future cardiac events. Participants will be entered into one of out of three groups. Two out of three of the participants will receive the investigational medication. One out of three of the participants will receive a placebo.
Study Length: 15 appointments over 30 weeks
Target Age: 18-85 years old
Benefits: All participants will receive study medication, physical exams, carotid artery ultrasound, MRI, lab work, and EKG's.
Stipend: $760 for completion of the study
- We are currently seeking participants who have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. This is a study of an investigational medication that may help to reduce the risk of future bleeding events due to anticoagulatim therapy. Participants who qualify would be placed into one of three groups. Two out of three participants would receive the study medication and one out of three participants would receive standard anticoagulatim therapy (coumadin / warfarin).
Study Length: 16 appointments over 2 ½ years.
Target Age: 21 and up
Benefits: All participants will receive study medication, physical exams, and lab work.
Stipend: $40 for each completed visit
